Officers, RA & Stewards Available for Lunchtime Meetings

A&R's Officers, Representative Assembly Members and Stewards are willing to travel to lunchtime meetings anywhere in Connecticut if three people or more will attend the meeting. Call 953-1316 or 1-800-842-4443 and leave a message. Please spell your last name and leave your phone number.

Check the Release You Sign at Your Doctor's Office

A&R's contract protects members from having to divulge diagnoses to management when they are out on sick leave for more than five days. All the doctor has to do is state that you were absent for medical reasons. Make sure that the medical release form you sign at your doctor's office does not include "employer" in the list of those people your doctor can talk to about your medical condition. Your employer can call the doctor and ask for information if they are included in the release. The Department of Revenue services has written to doctors asking them to change their orders and permit workers who were made sick by 25 Sigourney Street, Hartford, back into the building. Without a release including employer, any doctor who responds to DRS's request will be violating the privacy of their patients.

Only HR Staff Can Correct Seniority List

After we posted the seniority list on our web site, some members believed the
Union could correct the list. Only your department's human resources staff can access the on-line Automated Personnel System and correct the list. The Office of Labor Relations knows the list is inaccurate. A letter has been sent to all agencies asking them to update our layoff seniority list. We'll post the new list when it's available. (Remember, the entire list is at the mercy of the slowest and least accurate state agency.)
