Frequently Asked Questions

  • In terms of medical insurance, what would be better if I retired now rather than later?

Only people who retire by July 1, 2009 will be able to have coverage under Anthem Preferred

during their retirement (although a retired spouse on Anthem Preferred could add their spouse

to their Anthem Preferred coverage after 7/1/2009).

(NOTE: An Anthem Point of Service plan has been improved to the point at which Anthem

Preferred might be a waste of premium dollars.)

Only people who retire by July 1, 2009 will pay $3 or $6 for prescriptions. Those who

retire after that date will pay $5 or $10 minimums.

  • What is Professional Leave? How much money is available for attendance at workshops and conferences?

"Professional leave is defined as leave to attend seminars, classes, lectures, workshops, conventions or other related activities in aid of the development, maintenance, or exchange of professional skills, techniques or experiences which clearly relate to an employee's primary job assignment or logical career progression." - Article 31, Section 5 of the contract.

Up to ten days leave with pay may be granted by an agency during the contract term.
